Dr. Ross Hoksbergen

Dr. Ross Hoksbergen is currently the director of Music at Union Church of Cupertino, director of the Union Choir, and is co-founder of Cupertino Music Academy. He maintains active teaching studios for voice, piano, and trumpet. Dr. Hoksbergen pursued his D.M.A. in Music Performance under the direction of Rich Illman. Dr. Yanakieva is a founding member and teacher at Cupertino Music Academy. She is the pianist and organist at Union Church, in Cupertino, California. She maintains an active studio of all ages, featuring 'Master Classes', Recitals, and community performances. Matthew Leung


Leung was a violinist in the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of Hong Kong from 2005 until 2009, led by conductor Ray Tsoi and studied with Tony Yeung. He also performed in the Hong Kong Cultural Center and the Hong Kong City hall. Read more...

Diane LaVerne


Diane LaVerne been teaching preschool music for over 20 years. She taught pre-K through 8 in many Catholic schools in the greater bay area, and also private and public schools around the bay. Diane has a B.A. in Music Education was from College of Notre Dame, Belmont (now Notre Dame de Namur). Her post graduate studies include an Orff Schulwork Certification at Mills College. more info...

Conroy Jinq


Conroy Jinq is an accomplished drummer, singer, and pianist. He completed his college education from De Anza College, performing with various jazz, classical, and chamber ensembles while studying there. He has been the section leader and choral librarian for Union Church Choir for 2 years. He enjoys teaching music theory in addition to the music lesson,making sure students understand the musical background of each piece they perform.

Jes Burgess

Cello, Violin

Jes Burgess teaches cello, piano, and music theory to students of all ages at Cupertino Music Academy. She enjoys teaching correct posture and bow technique to new students and believes the fundamentals for music are key to future success. Jes takes pride in motivating each student to keep improving on their instrument. One of her beginning cellists was in his 90's, so she reminds her students it is never too late to learn the joys of making music!

Comfortable playing across many genres, she has performed with many of the top acts from Los Vegas and Hollywood, including the Brentwood Symphony, Casa Italien Opera Company, and the Celine Dion national tour.

Ayana Terauchi, 


Ayana Terauchi has been an avid performer in a variety of recitals, master classes, and chamber music concerts across the country. She has appeared frequently in competitions and has won the Undergraduate University of Michigan SMTD Concerto Competition, 1st prize in the MTNA Senior Woodwind National Competition, and 2nd prize in the National Flute Association Young Artist Competition. She has been featured on the NPR show From the Top, and she was a 2016 YoungArts winner, an award presented by the National YoungArts Foundation that recognizes excellence in the arts. She has participated in several prestigious music festivals including the Music Academy of the West, Aspen Music Festival and School, and the Thy Chamber Music Festival in Denmark where she performed with a woodwind quintet consisting of Michigan students. Terauchi has received a Bachelor in Music at the University of Michigan with a Major in Flute Performance and a Minor in Entrepreneurship. She is currently pursuing her Masters degree at the Colburn School of Music where she studies flute performance with Professor Jim Walker.

Juliana is a avid teacher and performer in the Bay Area, and is the lead guitarist for several bands. She began by playing piano and shortly thereafter moved to guitar, and she still teaches beginner piano!

Juliana enjoys teaching a variety of styles from classical guitar to Rock and Jazz. She enjoys teaching correct technique from an early age and her students often progress to form their own bands!
